South Africa offers couples a trip with contrast: Cape Town's coastline, the wine country inland and the landscapes along the Garden Route. A honeymoon can include several chapters without trying to cover the whole country.

Let the Cape set the beginning

Start with the places you want to spend time, then decide how to connect them.

Cape Town, the Cape Winelands and the Garden Route form a well-established travel combination. Each deserves its own pace. A city stay can bring food and coastal outings; the next base can shift the emphasis to countryside or a smaller coastal town.

Choose variety without constant movement

We suggest a few longer stays rather than a daily change of base. If wildlife is part of the trip, make it a distinct chapter with the right travel connection. Do not assume the hotels below all offer safari experiences; compare their actual locations and descriptions.

Build the route before booking

Driving distances, domestic flights and regional weather can change the shape of the journey. Ask your advisor to sequence the bases and reserve the experiences that matter most. Leave room for weather-dependent outings and an unplanned day after a long travel leg.
